- Choose your state wisely. Research salary, cost of living, teacher policies. Kerala, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh are better than Bihar, Tamil Nadu.
- Plan supplementary income. Accept that ₹55K in-hand isn’t enough in metros. Plan for tuition/coaching that adds ₹10,000-₹15,000/month.
- Build financial discipline. With limited salary growth (2-3% yearly), you must be excellent at budgeting and investing in EPF.
- Protect your mental health. Set clear boundaries between work and personal life. Don’t burn out in first 5 years.
- Focus on teaching quality. Despite admin burden, remember why you chose teaching. Make impact with students you teach.
- Connect with peer support network. Teacher associations, online communities, colleague groups. You’ll need emotional support.
- Know there’s no escape. Career changes after 10+ years as teacher are difficult. Commit fully or don’t commit at all.
