Critical: Link Your PAN with Aadhaar Before December 31, 2025

The Income Tax Department has set December 31, 2025 as the final deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar. After this date, unlinked PANs become inoperative, and you:

  • Cannot file income tax returns (ITR)
  • Cannot access tax refunds or TDS credits
  • Face higher TDS/TCS deduction rates (at higher slab)
  • Cannot conduct financial transactions exceeding ₹10,000
  • Must pay ₹1,000 late-linking penalty if linked after deadline

Pro Tip for New PAN Applicants: When applying for PAN via e-filing with Aadhaar OTP, your PAN is automatically linked with your Aadhaar at the time of generation. No separate linking step needed. However, if you applied via NSDL/UTIITSL, you must manually link PAN–Aadhaar afterward.
